 After picking our two boxes of fresh strawberries from Huber's, we needed to "put them up", as my grandparents used to say. I was surprised by how many people on our Adventure were intimidated by canning, but then I remembered that was me last year before I learned how to can. There's nothing to it, really.

The weather forecast said scattered thunderstorms were on the agenda for the day and when I walked outside my house I felt like I needed to go back in and change my shirt since the one I was wearing got soaked in sweat so quickly. It wasn't particularly hot, just that weigh-you-down humidity that prevails in the Ohio Valley. But we loaded up the car and headed out to Huber's Orchard & Winery.

We spent a lovely afternoon in Willow Park with some friends at the 2nd Annual Mighty Kindness Hootenanny. According to their website, A Mighty Kindness is "an online resource that brings together the sustainable services of our eco-region in order to create a stronger, healthier, happier community." I was kicking myself pretty much the entire time because I realized that would have been a great way to get the word out about this site and the louisvillecsa site. Ah, well. Next year, perhaps.

 We stopped by Mama's Hip today to do our gift certificate drawing and check out the first day of the Mama Market, which will be held on Saturdays through the summer. Bardstown Road was really hopping today so it looked like they were getting a fair amount of walking traffic. It really is close enough to the farmers' market that you could check out both fairly easily. We got a late start today, so we skipped the farmers' market. Big shocker, I'm sure, but I'm so not a morning person.
