We spent a lovely afternoon in Willow Park with some friends at the 2nd Annual Mighty Kindness Hootenanny. According to their website, A Mighty Kindness is "an online resource that brings together the sustainable services of our eco-region in order to create a stronger, healthier, happier community." I was kicking myself pretty much the entire time because I realized that would have been a great way to get the word out about this site and the louisvillecsa site. Ah, well. Next year, perhaps.

We ran into a lot of people we knew, including our friends at Heartland Music Together where the girls wanted to stop and play.

We also saw our friends Cindy, Jacky & Jaci at the Bike Couriers Bike Shop stand. I always feel just a little twinge of guilt for driving to one of these kinds of things after seeing how healthy they look and knowing how committed they are to promoting alternative transportation. I mean, really. We could have walked. It would have taken us a while, but it's not like we don't need the exercise.
I spent some time talking to a guy at the Sun Wind Power booth where I found out that a minimal solar system tied to the grid would cost about $20,000. I've always wanted to know what the general price was for something like that, but I've been too afraid to ask. He said it would cut our bill down to about $30 or $40 a month, obviously depending on how much we use now. There is a 30% federal tax credit to help defray the cost of installation. I'd love to do it if a money tree springs up in my back yard. I asked about wind, but he said that in the city of Louisville there are just too many ordinances against it and not enough wind.
Mostly we just hung out enjoying the beautiful day and catching up with some dear friends. I am the least photogenic person I know. Please don't hold it against me.
