So, Dh is off work this week. He's taking a "stay-cation". You know, where you stay at home instead of spending an arm and a leg going someplace tropical?

In order to make his vacation feel a little bit more vacation-y, I suggested we go ice skating. He was born in the Deep South, so he had never put on a pair of skates before in his life. Plus, Piper still loves to watch her favorite ice skaters on youtube and then do pretend routines around the livingroom. I figured it would be perfect.

Well. I'm sorry to report that he still hasn't put on skates. He claims that he had a great time just watching Piper and playing the photographer. He was afraid to break his ankle and mess with his swimming schedule.

Luckily, I had recruited my sister, Heather, who is much more steady on her feet. Piper was really wobbly at first so Heather and I practically had to hold her up. She slowly learned to take little steps and she started carrying her own weight.

Here are some photos:

Re: Ice Skating!

Do they rent the skates in Piper's size or did you have to buy them beforehand?
I don't think Sophie has any idea about ice skating, but it might be a fun thing to try over Christmas break...though maybe pregnant ice skating is not recommended, lol.

Looks like fun! Where did you go? I've only been ice skating a couple of times when I was a kid and thought that it was so much easier that roller skating. Roller skates were so bulky. I ended up doing a lot of in line skating in the 90s. Ha! That brings back memories. Thanks for sharing, Piper's a cutie!

Re: Ice Skating!

We went to Iceland. It was $6 per person (well, Dh was free since he didn't skate) and $2 for skate rentals.

They definitely stock skates in her size. In fact, I think hers fit better than mine, since my feet are a half size and the skates only come in whole numbers.
