Hey guys -

I'm trying to make this site as useful as possible. Can you please comment on some of the changes I'm kicking around?

1. I'm revamping the Resources section in an attempt to make it a little more user friendly. Please take a look at the Going Green dropdown under Resources on the menu at top. I think if I break it down into individual sections rather than just having one big clump of Resources, it'll be more helpful. Plus, I've been adding to it.

So instead of just a small "Pregnancy & Birth" section, I'll create a separate Pregnancy & Birth page where I'll list midwives, doulas, birthing classes, etc. in their own sections.

2. Instead of calling the site "Louisville Alternative Parenting Network", I'm changing the name to Louisville Parenting Network. I think that would make it more accessible. And frankly it would be easier to say. I've got a friend working on a logo now, so I need to make the decision quick.

3. What other gift certificates would you like to see offered? I saw an uptick in posting right after I sent out the GC contest for April, but it's died down again. I'd really like to increase traffic. I'd like to offer local GCs -  maybe Sustain, etc., but I'll go the Kroger route, too, if people would like that better.

4. It's about time to renew my message board license. I have the option of adding a more "social" module where it would allow users to create Groups like on Facebook. I thought that might be cool, but if nobody will use it, it's obviously a waste of money for me. Since I have no income right now, it may not be the smartest idea financially. However, if people will use it, it will drive traffic, thus allowing me to begin offering advertising from local vendors. Right now, I'm paying for the site out of pocket. I'd really like it to be self-supporting, kwim?

Anyway. Thanks for your feedback and support!
Tina

#1-I think it's a good idea.  I think you're right about breaking it into sections to be more useful, and easier to navigate.

#2-I agree w/you here also-"alternative" isn't in the web address either, so I think it's fine to leave it out.  I would just keep the stuff on the main page about being a NFL/AP/whatever site...I wouldn't want us to go "mainstream", lol

#3- I like the idea of keeping it local-sustain, amazing green planet, local kids' consignment places, Rainbow Blossom maybe? Or some of the Louisville Originals restaurants?  Personally, I'd go out of my way to get a gift card to those places, but not so much for Kroger. JMO.

#4-I wouldn't bother, at this point.  If the site expanded to the point where groups and such were more necessary, then maybe, but if it's going to cost you extra $$, I wouldn't.

Thank you muchly, Erin. :)

I'm slowly working my way through expanding the Resources. It's more time-consuming than one might think. I'm happy to add additions to the list if anyone has any suggestions.
