I'm Sommer, and I have two little ones, Asher (3) and Rachel (1 tomorrow). They were both born in my kitchen in the water.

We try to live a pretty natural and healthy lifestyle, and subscribe to many of the "AP" beliefs, mostly just trying to follow our children's lead. We also have two dogs that we love dearly. I look forward to "meeting" all the other mamas.

Yay, Sommer. Welcome!

I'm Tina. My children are 16 and 2 1/2. Hmmm... What else? I'm a sometimes SAHM, sometimes WAHM. I like to read, hike/walk, knit and garden. I'm glad it's warming up so we can spend lots of time outdoors.

Ok, I'll go next.  I'm a SAHM mom to a two-year-old daughter.  I love to cook, to read, I'm an aspiring gardener when the weather is this nice (but seem to have a naturally brown thumb ), and to solve all the world's problems (ha!) with my DH while we push the stroller and talk every evening.  I'm very excited about this new forum for local mamas!
For us, "alternative" parenting is all about doing things our own way, not the way someone else expects us to.  I believe in the right of every mama to mess up her own child to the best of her own ability, and I'm doing fine on my own, thank you!

Mama to DD 03/28/2006 and DS 02/27/10.

I'm Crystal, mama to Judah (who will be six in July ) and currently gestating a second boy (40 wks 2d) who will hopefully arrive anyday now.  Both my wonderful husband and I are full time students at UofL and we work opposite days out of the home so that we can both SAH part time.  We're into Gentle Discipline, baby wearing, co-sleeping, and a commercial free childhood (to name a few things that makes us 'alternative' to the norm.)  I love to read, research my decisions carefully, make lists and eat ice cream.  That's me .

**Update: My second child, Elijah was born June 5, 2008 - 10 lbs, 14 oz 23 in**

I'm Christy, mama to Kaya (was 2 in April) and wife to Scott. I'm a nurse working in the OR, We seem to have a lot of AP beliefs, cloth diapers, bfing, co-sleeping. But it seems like our parenting decisions have been made based upon environmental and/or instinctual reasons. The path of least resistance is my mantra, although I suppose you have to test the waters sometimes. That being said my focus right now is on potty training, that's a crazing process that I won't get into right now. As soon as I think were on our way Kaya says, no we're not! So, I have been trying to be patient with that. I'm also into gardening as I am going to plant a rain garden at my grandmother's house today. And my latest obsession is trying to buy all of my food from local sources, which really is not an easy task, but I'm learning lots along the way.
Thanks to Tina for creating this site!

Hello! I'm growing my first babykin right now- due about Oct. 1.  I like to keep an open mind about new things so I think this site is great. I like to garden, read and watch movies.  Trying to be greener and more aware.

Look forward to some intersting insights!

Hi!

I'm Amanda. My husband's name is John. We have been married about 8 years. Jackson is our 7 year old, and Mason just turned four. I'm currently trying to figure out life and having a hard time doing so. I have been a SAHM since before Jackson was born, but I am thinking about going back to school or working part-time. I enjoy reading, organizing, and I hate cooking!

P.S. I hope I did this right! I'm not terribly forum savvy.

Oh... that was the wrong picture, albeit a funny one of Mason crying while I was trying to take a picture of him in his beetle costume for Halloween. And it's rotated the wrong way! I am so good at this. LOL

I'm April. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I work very part-time right now and will be a full-time SAHM again after June 19th. I love to read and really aspire to love cooking, although isn't happening just yet.

Hi all - I am Amy, mama to Brynn (2 1/2) and wife to Jason.  I'm currently a SAHM, hoping to begin postpartum doula and LLL leader training this summer.  At some point, I am also hoping to become a certified lactation consultant, but that may be a few years off.  I'm also working on my PhD, but only as a back-up plan!  I'm passionate about promoting breastfeedng and helping new moms establish a successful breastfeeding relationship, and hope to work closely with young mothers (I'm going to be volunteering at Home of the Innocents this fall in their center for pregnant teens).

Everything else about us can be found on our blog
