Legally, recipes are not copyrightable, under a long series of precedents. However, the narrative text surrounding recipes in a cookbook is.

I still may ask an attorney's opinion. It's a fairly important question. I know you're not supposed to c&p articles in their entirety, but recipes seem to be a gray area. It's got me curious.

LOL.  I don't think any copyright police are coming after women swapping recipes.    My concern is about posting them online in a public forum.  I have no idea if it is against the "rules" or not--I just know they are strict about it on MDC.
