The Very Very Basics : Growing 101 on Monday, May 17 at 6:30pm.
 
This is a beginner’s basic workshop on starting to grow your own food using the Square Foot Gardening principles as offered as one solution by 15Thousand Farmers here in Louisville, KY.

If you have always wanted to get your hands in the dirt and see plants grow, give food and enjoy the benefits of connecting with the elements–come and learn the very very basics!

This one will be held at the Green Building Monday May 17 at 6:30-8pm
$10 Suggested donation (no one turned away for lack of funds).

One way that you can effectively plant crops in square foot areas is through proper irrigation. You can set up a sprinkler system because the crops are in 'bunches', meaning you don't waste a lot of water like you would if you were trying to use a sprinkler on 'rows' of crops. Look in specialty magazines or online for drip lines or shurflo 8000 pumps and see if they work for you. Fertilizer is also a big deal, but I'll save that tip for next time!
