Ok...I've seriously tried to do this 4 times now, but my dd hates it when I'm on the computer as of late. So, now that she's in bed, here goes...
I'm Christy, mama to Novi, a vivacious and fiery 2 yo, and expecting baby brother in August - earlier would be better than later, as I'm not liking this heat one bit! I'm fairly crunchy all around. I used to hate that word, but it's grown on me in the last few years. My dh and I have been fairly eco-conscious for a while now and are always striving to simplify and leave less and less of a footprint. Having children has certainly made that a challenge in some ways, but through homebirthing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, co-sleeping and making our own baby food, I think we're doing pretty darned good so far! We realized very early on that you really don't need much baby gear...in fact cribs, swings and whatnot seem to hamper the parenting process quite a bit. This is a good thing, as our house is tiny!
I've always wanted children and have always been fascinated by birth. After baby#2 is weaned, I plan to pursue my dream to become a midwife. In the meantime, I'm trying to find any way I can to help educate and support new mothers to take back their power by choosing to breastfeed and find gentle, intuitive ways to raise their children.
Other interests as of late include gardening and cooking - as in, I'm not good at either, but want to be, so I'm trying...Prior to having children, my dh and I spent lots of time travelling, rock climbing, camping, hiking, and eating lots of yummy food in whatever city we landed in at the time. While we both miss the nomadic lifestyle, we are optimistic that we'll get back to it again when the kiddos get a bit older. I have regular fantasies about the whole family gearing up for a week-end camping/climbing trip at the Gorge. Here's to dreaming
