So my MIL has offered to fill in the gaps in our diaper stash for baby#2. How exciting for me, as I get to try out some wool covers that I otherwise cannot afford. As they are expensive, though, I want to do lots of research and go with one that we are likely to be satisfied with. On that note, do any of you wool users love or hate specific covers? Please, do share

I do not like the felted wool, I think it is hard and itchy. It may be good to have the crotch felted for nighttime use, but not the entire diaper. one of the softest wool is merinno wool I think. a good place to try wool is on diaperswappers.com, where you can buy it used to see what works for you. I personally think its kinda hard to measure for wool, because if its a tight knit there is not a lot of give. so buying used works best on the bill fold!
Good Luck!!

Thanks:) I just started playing around at DiaperSwappers the other night and am now totally addicted!!! I've already bought two used covers and will likely buy more in the future. What an ingenius idea...a website designed to save us CD'ing mamas some money!!!

I think the Aristocrats covers are pretty good.  Lots of momma-made woolies out there, too.  I love sheepytimeknits.com.  I haven't actually used any of her pre-made soakers, but her knitting and patterns are amazing, so I bet anything she's made would work really really well.  (And tons of very very cute options!)

We had an Aristocrat when Caleb was tiny and then used Disana soakers. I like the longer leg on the Disana. Here's a description:

I've got both of those and I like the Disana more in the winter and the aristocrat when its hot. they both have nice coverage IMO.

also find a good wool wash. you can get lansinoh spray at Target that works really well

This link has instructions on making wool diaper covers out of recycled adult sweaters.

My very favorite wool diaper cover is made out of an old sweater. It's the only thing that was effective for nighttime diapering. She'd pee through everything else.
