Has anyone had success making their own stain remover...as in the 'spray-on and let it soak before washing' kind? It's hard to find a good eco-friendly version that both works and doesn't cost a ton...

Also, I'd love some recipes for making my own laundry soap...especially recipes that will work for cloth diapers (i.e. won't cause build-up issues in pockets).

Thanks

have you tried bac-out as a stain remover? it works pretty well and is safe for most cloth diapers.

for laundry detergent I use:
soap nuts
oxi-clean
baking soda or soda wash
vinegar

works really well!

Hmmm...I actually haven't tried Bac-out yet. Where can I get it? Also, what are 'soap nuts' and where can I get those as well? Lastly, what proportions do you use for the ingredients in your laundry mix?

Thanks

I got my Bac-out from a co-op but they sell it at Krogers or I am sure Whole Foods, it is made by Bio-Kleen. Soapnuts are actually nuts from the Soapila Tree that are an all natural laundry detergent. I got those from a co-op as well. If you do a search it will give a lot of info on them.

I make up a big batch and use about 1/2 cup- this is a great fabric softener as well!! then 2-3 soap nuts.

I usually put the bac-out in the first rinse cycle and let them soak.

1 c water
1c baking soda
2 c vinegar
20 drops EO

I have called Amazing Grace, Rainbow Blossom and Whole Foods looking for soap nuts, and nobody carries them.  Thank goodness for the internets!
