I am starting to wash my own diapers (RIP Old Louisville Diaper Service *sob*) and have been told that keeping things so fresh and so clean without heavy chemicals can be a bit tricky.  I want to start things off right and am wondering what you more experienced CD parents have to say.  Any advice to give a novice diaper launderer?

I am using pre-folds that I bought from the service for the most part and have a variety of pocket diapers that I am beginning to put into night time rotation.  They seem to be a bit more absorbent and comfortable for DS who is a heavy early morning wetter.

If you are interested, these are the two detergent charts that I know of. They might be the same, I'm not sure. I always found it best to use a free/clear detergent, hot wash, and dry them in the sun if you can. Good luck!
