Does anyone know if Art Sparks still does "free with your library card" days? We are thinking of buying a family membership, but I want to take the kids a couple of times and make sure it's something they will want to do a lot before I get a membership. Also, does anyone know if a membership includes parking in the garage?

I dunno about the library card thing, but I need to re-up our membership as well. This time of the year, Art Sparks is really nice.

You don't get free parking, but we got quite a few parking passes. I can't remember how many, but it did help.

They discontinued the library card thing awhile back, and AFAIK haven't started it again.  If you participate in the library's summer reading program, you usually get a free pass that admits 4.  Otherwise, it's $5-you pay for the adults and kids over 2.  I don't remember the parking being terribly expensive-I'm pretty sure it's been under $5 each time we've been, so even if you used up your passes it would still be reasonable vs. other indoor activities.

They've made some improvements there as well over the last year or so-the newish castle play area is pretty cool and tends to be my kids' favorite part.

Oh, I forgot that we have that family pass from this summer! As I remember, the parking garage wasn't much, maybe $3 whenever we went? I just generally don't like when I have to park in a garage for the simple (stupid) fact that 8 of 10 times I will get there and realize that I have no cash! This was a big problem when we had a dual zoo/science center membership. Maybe I just need to put an envelope in the car with some parking garage cash and leave it there.

I'm going stir crazy with cabin fever lately, so we've been looking for indoor things where Caleb can blow off some steam and I can sit quietly with the baby. I haven't been since they put in the castle play area, so we'll be sure to check that out soon!

You know, I am the same way.  I almost always have to remind myself to grab cash (which more often than not means I have to go to the ATM), and there I am breaking a $20 for $4 at the garage.

If you're looking for other ideas, we do the open gym at KGA (http://www.kgagym.com) fairly often in the winter.  It's a bit of a drive, but not bad to do once in awhile, and they get to run around and go nuts for an hour.  It's $5, or you can buy a five-pass card for $20. (And free parking)  My kids are early birds so we do the earlier gym times and it's hardly ever more than a few families.

Thanks for the info, ladies! We are slowly working on a list of "Things to do in the afternoons so that we get out of the house and Tiffany doesn't go insane". It seems to hard to find stuff in the winter! I think we will start going to an open gym sometimes and letting him run his wiggles out.
