Apparently, that's the name of a book. I found a discussion raving about it on MDC.

Sounds interesting. I'm thinking of trying it. The price of bread is something like $4 a loaf here. I can make plain old sandwich bread that isn't too bad, but this sounds much more tasty.

I bought this book. I haven't yet tried some of the more elaborate recipes in here, but the basic loaf was good for the time it took, compared to my usual handmade loaves. I did try to mess with one and make a "part whole wheat" (I think I fiddled with it on my own instead of following the recipe) and it didn't turn out very well. I think if you just want to make simple no fuss bread at home, use the basic recipe you can get on the web and save your $25. If you really like to bake, you might want to get the book. Mark Bittman's How To Cook Everything has a wonderful section on bread baking, too. Darn. Now I really want some homemade bread!

I really liked the recipes in the article a LOT. I've tried the basic Boule - it made 4 small loaves. They were really good. There was never any left the following day.

I just tried the Whole Wheat sandwich bread recipe. My husband said he likes it a lot better than the recipe I make from Joy of Cooking. The ironic thing is that the WW sandwich recipe I use from Joy is a heckuva lot more labor intensive.

I don't mind making bread every now and then, but as a source of our daily supply I love this 5-minute method. Even if I'm feeling super lazy, all I need to do is pull off a hunk and shape it. I saw alternatives uses mentioned for the Boule - like using it as pizza crust. That would be great. Pizza is my "go-to" lazy night meal. We buy those premade crusts, but boy howdy, have they gotten expensive.

My only criticism so far is that the loaves are fairly small. The WW bread was supposed to make 3 loaves. I made two instead.
