Hello, I am moving to either Elizabethtown or Louisville in the next three months. I have a 17 month old daughter and my husband and I believe strongly in attachment parenting, natural birthing, breastfeeding, etc. We are thinking of enrolling our daughter in Gymboree to start with. Does anyone have opinions on the Louisville Gymboree? We are also contemplating the Elizabethtown montessori school or Louisville Waldorf school next year for preschool. I am also looking for pediatrician or GP recommendations, opinions on which farmers markets are the best in the area, general fun activities for my daughter and family, etc. Thank you and I look forward to getting to know everyone. Anna

Welcome, Anna!

We've not done the Gymboree thing, but we really liked Music Together classes. You might want to check out a discussion here about several Mamas who like All About Kids. Hmmm.... Shine offers many parent/child type classes. On rainy days, we like ArtSparks; on sunny ones we like the zoo. There are tons of nice parks and  playgrounds in the area.

Our favorite farmers market is the Bardstown Rd farmers market.

Those are just some of the things that spring to mind first. It's hard to give too many recommendations without knowing where you're going to end up. Elizabethtown is an hour away from me, depending on where in E-town you'd live.

We did Gymboree for a bit when DD was little; I'm kind of "meh" on it personally.  It's okay, some of the teachers were better than others, but in the end we had better experiences elsewhere.  We have done Music Together for 3 or 4 sessions and really really like it.  I'm also one of the All About Kids mamas-my DD just started there a few weeks ago, and we're both really happy with it.  I also like KGA for open gym.  Infinite Bliss yoga also has mommy/baby yoga.  There are lots of libraries w/story times, etc.  The Crescent Hill branch has an especially nice kids area.  The St. Matthews farmers' market is also a good option.

There's a ped sticky in the vax forum which might be useful to you.

Welcome!
Erin,
mom to DD (4), DS (2), and DD,3 months
